Buxton Mountain Bike Park

Pictures are of the MTB trail heading down into the fern glades, local creek and view from highway to MTB park area.

Buxton is located on the Maroondah Highway in the vicinity of Marysville. The Buxton trails are located just off the Maroondah Highway on Dyes Lane and have been created by the DSE as a purpose built park for mountain bikes.

The trail, in general terms, winds in a circuit to form a number of nested trails which gradually wind their way up 100 metres or so in altitude before heading around the summit area. They then drop briefly before heading up again slightly before the final drop back down to the parking area over a distance. This track home reminds me of the Marriners Run at Forrest and is nestled in beautiful fern gullies. The main loop has been recently extended and incorporates a couple of nested loops and short cuts which cut across the main loop. My thanks to James Cowell from the DSE for highlighting this run. The DSE have done a great job in establishing this track and the track will only get better as the bushfire damage repairs itself. Even with the effects of the fire, this is a beautiful area to ride through.
